I was wandering through the Retronaut archives when this lovely lady caught my eye.
Her name is Aida Overton Walker, a vaudeville actress who performed alongside her husband George Walker and was considered one of the best black female dancers of her time. I recommend you read the external links on her wikipedia page: the wikipedia article itself is rather short, but the external articles mentions a lot about her performances and her charity work, one of which include her producing 2 shows for black female acting groups.
So today my siblings and I strolled through the attic of a house where we lived as children, and found my mother’s old record collection. Turns out she had a pretty sweet taste in music, here’s just a few of the albums we found!
Do thine eyes deceive or is that the album Transformer I see?
